The clients purchased the home for the location, view and the lot amenities, not the house. The owners concluded that a remodel of the kitchen, children’s bedrooms and bathroom was necessary to maintain family harmony. As the design of the remodel progressed, the owners determined that there were several other quirks about the house that needed to be addressed leading to a whole house remodel. Due to unforeseen conditions regarding the land under the house, seventy-five percent of the house had to be torn down and re-built within the existing footprint.
The unexpected teardown provided the homeowners with a silver lining, the opportunity to turn their entire house into a home that could meet the current and future needs of a family and two professionals working from home.
New siding, insulation, metal roof, heat recovery ventilator, ductless heat pump, hydronic heating, new windows and doors and oil finished hardwood floors checked the box for high-performance low maintenance home. A rework of the floor plan provided space for a kitchen that allows friends and family to gather for communal meal preparation, each child to have a bedroom and an additional bathroom and powder room. The rework along with the new windows and multi-slide exterior doors provide the unobstructed views and better access to outdoor entertaining.
This home has been transformed into a stunning and energy efficient home that brings joy to the homeowners every day and a harmonious family life.
