The project objectives included accessible storage, layered kitchen lighting, and multiple workstations so all members of their growing family could spend time together in the kitchen safely.
The objectives were realized by two primary changes to the kitchen layout. First, by removing the awkward peninsula and incorporating an island with seating and a built-in breakfast nook, wasted space was made usable, allowing everyone to be in the kitchen together safely and harmoniously.
Second, by moving one load bearing wall and one non-load bearing wall, the requisite space for a refrigerator, wall oven and steam oven was created. Ample storage is now available for pots, pans, dry goods and even decorative wares. The multiple layers of lighting ensure that the right light level is achievable for every task.
