A Thoughtful Approach
to Residential Design

Good design is not only about how a space looks, but how it functions over time. At McCabe By Design, each project is approached with a focus on clarity, usability, and long-term comfort. Spaces are designed to support daily routines, adapt to changing needs, and feel cohesive within the home as a whole.

From layout and flow to materials and systems, every decision is considered in context: balancing aesthetics, performance, and sustainability.

Services

Thoughtful design is built through a balance of planning, detail, and collaboration. Each project is approached holistically, from the overall layout to the smallest specification, to create spaces that feel cohesive, functional, and lasting.

  • From individual rooms to full-home transformations, each project is tailored to how you live.

The design process considers layout, flow, and spatial relationships to create environments that feel intuitive and comfortable. Special attention is given to multi-generational living, accessibility, and flexibility, ensuring spaces can adapt over time without compromising on aesthetics.

  • Every material and finish is selected with care, balancing durability, sustainability, and visual harmony.

This includes guidance on cabinetry, countertops, plumbing fixtures, flooring, wall finishes, and hardware, as well as energy- and water-efficient systems. The goal is to create a cohesive material palette that supports both the design vision and long-term performance of the home.

  • Clear, detailed documentation supports a smooth and well-executed build.

Each project includes comprehensive design reports outlining project objectives, spatial plans, elevations, and material specifications. These documents provide clarity for both clients and contractors, helping ensure the design is carried through accurately during construction.

  • Testimonials

“We have hired Molly McCabe of McCabe by Design twice. First for the kitchen in our new construction home, and later for a custom china cabinet and entertainment center / bookshelf system. Molly's design guidance was invaluable in helping us choose a look that suited both our style and our NW Craftsman home. The final result feels seamlessly integrated and beautifully executed. We will enjoy these additions to our home for many years to come.”

  • Testimonials

Having now fully utilized and enjoyed the beautiful new master bathroom, we want to thank you for your excellent work. Your guidance in design and materials, your close attention to the project and quick recognition of changes that needed to be made, the quick reworking of the subcontractors and close oversight of their work, and your attention to excellence of each stage of the project was outstanding. We love the new bathroom and will continue to do so for many, many years to come. We now understand what a long and involved process it is for everyone — homeowners and contractors — and of all the decisions that went into it, choosing to work with you was certainly our best one.
